Yay for thread necromancy.
Anyway though, yeah, gotta love the good ol' tried-and-true ex-corp whistleblower background angle. It can be spun any number of ways, and can often give you a quick and dirty idea of what a character's personality may be like. For example, Sakieh's troll doesn't sound like perhaps the most ethical guy on the planet, since well, he's a shadowrunner, but he obviously must take real pride in his work and therefore won't stand behind anything that doesn't meet his standards. Throw in the doctorate & masters degrees and he sounds like a real "get it right the first time" kinda guy. I dunno, guess that's just how I'd envision it anyway.

Face it, a Troll in ANY technical field is going to have the odds stacked against him or her. First, there is prejudice. Then there is the simple fact that trolls do not have as high an intelligence/logic potential as Humans. So, right there, you could see some of the psych of an troll with intellectual and technical expertise like that...that he would not be someone to stop at the first obstacle. That, in fact, would probably be WHY he takes pride in his work: because he had to work much harder to get there then the average human.
And, one COULD argue that Shadowrunning *IS* ethical...remembering, of course, that ethics are, philosophically, relative. Have you read "A Fistful of Data" yet? or "Aftershocks"? Those are both rather good examples of "ethical" shadowrunners.
