You're ignoring the most basic underlying premise of human culture.  Governments only work because of the power, explicit or implict, of the ruling body to remain in power, versus the power of the vast mundane majority to usurp that power and install a different manner of governance.  Dust bunnies represent the true power, the purest force of will that could possibly be placed into motion.  A war with the dust bunny nation would be long and costly, fought in our very bedrooms and closets.  Nobody wants that much dust on their hands.  This means, alas, that the dust bunny monarchy must be recognized, lest we invite conflict that could tear our civilization apart.
