Just wondering the policy on these nifty little things.  Granted from what I've heard there is no such policy on Seatle as is.  One character thats it.

I've also heard the horror stories from that.  Afterall I'm currently playing with a player who came to denver from seatle because her character was stuck in plot limbo for over a month and theres no alt policy so she couldn't continue playing there really.

Personaly I'm all for alts in a limited fashion, maybe 1 alt character with certain restrictions (cant be in the same scene, if they show up at the same place one must leave asap, no trading of gear or cash between them, ect).  Gives you a chance to play something different for a little while.  But I don't know what you guys were thinking about it/or what you guys feel about it.  I've just heard enough horror stories of people getting stuck in limbo here and there andwishing they could alt so they could do something while they wait.

As a staffer on other MU*s I've always had the following policy:

PLOTS ALWAYS TAKE PLACE AFTER THE MOST RECENT RP!!!!  So its future cast.

Now if the plot is something time sensitive, than it can be halted, of course.  But anything beyond 2 days of restriction for RP is just plain ludicrous.  I never held people past 1 day, and they requested it of me, not the other way around.  So, they didn't go to the grid cause THEY didn't want to forget the plot just yet.  And as a big opponent to alts in all my existence and history... I've always said, you wanna continue playing while idle here?  Than find another MUX to play on.  Causes a lot less problems, I think.  But than again I've never been in a plot limbo for over a couple days, cause I remind the staffer about my rule, and they always agree its a good policy.

Anyways.  Cheetos to you.   Grin

We're building the system with the potential of allowing alts in the future. For now, however, it's still one player, one PC.

Yeah plot limbo sounds like an all around bad idea.  It seems perfectly ok to me to keep plots in OOC meta-time until they're actually done.  If I hung out in a bar on thursday, but a plot which started on monday has me die the same day in the next session on friday... Well, it's easy enough to say that in game time, the plot started on friday.  There might be an exception for certain time sensitive things maybe, but trusting the player to treat an in-progress plot as OOC while RPing before it's over (including not using anything gained from that plot) seems like a pretty safe bet.

If we don't let GMs hold players prisoner in plot-limbo, then nobody will need an alt, and the question will be largely moot.
