When I first started playing TT Shadowrun, we started every session with Fuel "Jesus or a Gun", and had an entire soundtrack of metal, electronica, industrial to play during the run.  And I find that even when playing the MUSH, i got the same stuff playing.  Am I just wierd, or are other people listening to angry gunfight music while MUSHing?

Yes, you are just weird. Wink  Though I find Juno Reactor to be more my flavor for Shadowrun.

Audioslave, Slipknot, Shinedown, Rammstein, and 'Decontrsructed' by Bush are some of my favorites for running.

You may be weird, but so are we and most others. Smiley

I don't know, I like Wilco and Hank Williams. And Lee Konitz....I wonder if musical tastes equal into Role Playing style anyway, I'm much more into say Debussy and stuff like In A Silent Way, which have been featured in stuff like Oceans 11 and Heist, as opposed to Juno Reactor and DJ Shadow which is in stuff like The Matrix and Blade (Trilogy).  But then again, I avoid gunfights at all costs in SR. Depends on the scene.  For overall FLAVAH! mood setting, I've always found Rage Against the Machine to be uber fitting.  Some industrial if you can find it is always good like FUnker Vogt or Rammstein and stuff.  The Germans certainly know their industrial.  Anyways...depending on the scene, you can go with Rob D's uber amazing Clubbed to Death for going to meets to Brubeck's "Take Five" for some easy listening while dossing down.  Everyone has their tastes and ideas for what fits for the 'mood'.

Also, Melkir scares me.  *eyes Melkir*

Melkir scares most of us, though I don't think his taste in music has anything to do with it.

That doesn't sound like such a bad idea though. Again, if its looking at mood, someone might want a suave, smooth, and otherwise sophisticated, you might play a little Sinatra. Thats perfect if you have a high-level negotiator and not some wierd face with spurs and an armor jacket.

You could also have a mess of music based on what area your in on the MUSH. In the Matchsticks, that calls for some Jazz. In the barrens... BLADE RUNNER MUSIC!

I'd prefer something 30s Noir when doing legwork. That or 20s swing. Mmmm. 20s Swing

It really depends on the situation for me, when running the Aliens RPG I used to turn on the PS1 and pop in the Alien Trilogy to let the music run in the background, just because I liked the sort of creepy techno feel it had. When I used to deck on old SRS I'd listen to the SoundTrack to Children of Dune of all things. I dunno why it just fit, sorta surreal sounding I guess.

In the Barrens I'd be more likely to use Billy Idol's last CD than Rage against the Machines, partly because I can't stand Rage. I would use some Prodigy, some Type O- perhaps, even some Fatboy Slim, or Basement Jaxx depending on the situation.

Just what I like to use though.

I second Rammenstien, also In Nomine is very theme. It's techno orchestra. HIM is good as are a few other local bands.

I tend to watch movies, anime, or whatnot.  I'll write up stories, work on 2 or 3 MU*s at the same time, play an MMO, or another video game in a window.  That sorta stuff.  People don't really notice distraction, I type pretty fast.  Its the only way I can handle those long pauses between poses.

If it's the band I'm thinking of, the one who wrote that song about The Continent of Thailand, I think it's "E Nomine"  And yes, they are great fun.  If your looking for German Industrial Sesame Street, check out Kompressor...

...but don't blame me...

Hehe, for the longest time, I thought the band name was Finsternes, the name of their first album.

You can listen to 4 tracks, including Vater Unser, which I really like at their myspace-music site -> http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=12516316
