Eh. I was told I should actually update everyone on the status of the new Chargen system. I'll keep this short and grumpy, since it's morning and I'm dead tired.

There are 10 segments to chargen:

1) The basics (race and magic type selection, miscellaneous) *** DONE *** (minor debugging on race change)
2) Attribute Purchasing *** DONE ***
3) Qualities Purchasing/Selling
4) Skill Purchasing
5) Cyber/Bio Purchasing
6) Equipment/Lifestyle/Gear/SIN/Etcetera Purchasing
7) Spells/Powers
Cool Spirits/Foci
9) Complex Forms
10) Bound Sprites

At this point in time, a large chunk of the base/generic code used in each segment has been completed. I'm in the processing of finishing off the code for each individual segment. The basics are completely finished (and bugproof!), and Attributes are about 50% done.

I will be continuing to update this as chargen nears completion.

Dude. Kickass. I will never understand what magic coders do to make things that do stuff out of nothing but letters and numbers, but keep on doing that glorious magic.

The enchanting process typically involves many hours of finger-wiggling as well as the occasional profane incantation directed towards the screen.

_Occasional_ profane incantation?

You obviously haven't been around sober coders much...

Goal Completion Date: January 7th, 2005.

So, I assume that's no longer the goal date... May I ask what is?

Not that I'm a representative or whatnot from the MUX staff, but I'd imagine that my response to your question will be just as ambigious and accurate as theirs.

Currently there is a hope that we will be able to open soon.  However, what with the coders being more or less absent (except a few, thanks!!!) and things settling down for summer break, and people going on vacation, it is unknown exactly when abouts that we will be able to open.  Although, it should still be soon enough you won't be dead!

So no worries, we just gotta keep up the good work, keep up to date on the forums, and whenever the staff are absolutely ready they'll tell us... and we'll come prove them wrong.

Things should actually end up better during the summer months - we lost quite a few coders to the school year crunch, including myself.

The new proposed opening is is *coughsputtermurmercough* of *phlegmy clearing of throat*.

I'd like to point out that the proposed completion date quoted is nearly a year prior to the date of the post itself. So...

Look, we're not stalling to make people mad. Sheesh, if I could code I would have done it singlehandedly a long time ago. But we all have other committments. And coders are very scarce these days. We're doing the best we can, but it wouldn't be fair to give you an open date again and miss it when we honestly aren't sure when we can get everybody back on board.

If you can code, volunteer. When there's an open date or updates, I'll post them on the General Announcement board, as I have all along.

*waves a hand from beneath a pile of mutant mangled gun code*

You know what would be a good divergence from canon?  Make all the weapons not work.  Let's concentrate on hitting each other with fists and maybe the occasional thrown rock.  Yeah.  That would be sweet.

I think Nevermore might be onto something. We can do it all Einstein-style, set it after World War III, y'know?

(I hope that wasn't too obtuse for anyone.)

I already volunteered. I got no response. Figured I wasn't needed.
