Okay, so on another thread we mentioned putting a list of other Seattle locations for RP on a forum to be used for RP. This seemed like the most logical space to put it. So I'll start adding things here Smiley

Please feel free to contribute yourself, for the most part I'll be going through Seattle 2072 adding items that stick out to me as potential fun places for casual RP.

Redmond
Life on the Wild Side
Hardly a safe place at all to visit, even the local authorities caution against travel going too far off the beaten track, Redmond is still  one of the most exciting nightspots in Seattle, providing various bars and clubs for those slumming it or those truly living it. Not just a party ‘plex, there are other businesses run by local residents, some going back a few decades.

Bargain Basement
This are of Redmond was once a home for upscale apartments, the crash some forty years ago turned a community of condoplexes into a squatters den, dubbed the ‘bargain basement’. Slumlords, squatters and criminal syndicates take advantage of the decaying buildings here, lots and alleys. Life is cheap, people are desperate taking what jobs are offered and selling what ever can be found or stolen – black markets popping up anywhere and everywhere.

The Verge
Much like the Bargain Basement, the Verge has become a home of squatters, though this region was devastated by the ash-fall from Mount Rainier and despite one Corp’s failed attempt to revive the area, squatters have moved back in, despite the need of the most basic services. Gang wars are waged to claim the territory and the black market – truly working on behalf of either the Mafia or Yakuza.

The Jackal’s Lantern
25th Street & 168th Avenue NE
Home of the gang the Halloweeners, this night club has survived a few incarnations as it’s moved from place to place, but from it’s industrial cable rolls to barb-wire mannequin parts décor, it has that gritty street feel – it doesn’t help that the security and bouncers is the gang that adopted it as their home.

Monohan Vehicles
Black Nugget Road
this factory complex in Redmond churns out Military grade vehicles for Ares Macrotechnology.
Their vehicles are shipped around the world in large guarded convoys and a big draw for local Knight Errant. The complex can’t help but be something of a teasing bait to runners in the area, with such prime tech so close at hand, but with whom they’re supplying, the security is one hell of a risk.

Yoshiro’s
Woodinville Snohomish Road & 175th Street NE
The poor man’s Phoenix House, the establishment and the clientele are all wannabes. Synthetic soy foods and cheap synthahol is served in press-paper. While folks that call themselves runners are harassed by those desperately seeking to be in the yakuza.

Puyallup
Much like the Verge, the ash that fell from Mt. Rainier wiped out life as it was know in Puyallup, ever since then refugees of various kinds have sought asylum in the tent cities and semi-permanent encampments that have sprung up since the eruption. It’s a place to a hide, a place to lick your wounds, the home of exiles.

Ash still falls with some regularity from Mt. Rainier, giving Puyallup, ‘dirty snow’ and some of the worst air quality in Seattle, where breathing aids or some form of filter is a must, less you wish to risk what some of the locals have dubbed ‘P-lung’ and ‘grey-lung’; a deep, hacking cough caused from long exposure to the air.

Despite all this, Puyallup still has it’s tourists, people coming to see the lava fields or sample the night life in byte size pieces – never lasting too long and only traveling in groups arriving in armored, secured transport, only truly venturing outside their bubble so much.

Carbonado
Effectively and ork town, eruptions of Mt. Rainier affecting yet another district of Seattle and closing down what was once a series of mining towns. Now Tuskers have moved in, claimed what homes they could, those that survived the eruptions.  With other squatters and refugees they try to revive the mines and salvage what equipment they can to help them in this work.

Hell’s Kitchen
Desolated, rusting hulks that were once destined to be turned into geothermal power plants dot the lava flats, now turned to waypoints and shelters for those that call Hell’s Kitchen home.  Smugglers often make their way across the desolation, avoiding monitoring stations and patrol drones to cross the borders.

The boiling mud pits and mineral rich lava flats provide something of a bevy of resources for talismongers and miners, while shamans often venture out this way to be closer to certain nature spirits or on vision quests.

Loveland
Gang wars rage on, for what seems like indefinitely as the mafia and yakuza arm and supply them in a half hearted attempt to gain control of the land, while neither side truly dedicates themselves or their resources to winning the war. Needless to say, that while both criminal organizations of vying for control, drugs, chips and all manner of other goods can be found here. The population pretty much made up of Squatters, thieves, gangers, pushers and hookers and some even fitting into more then one of those pigeon holes, all selling whatever they can to the ‘tourists’ and off duty soldiers of near by Fort Lewis.

Tarislar
Birds of a feather, flock together. Just as Orks had migrated to Carbonado, elves had gravitated to what was dubbed Tarislar, a result of the night of rage and loosely translated to ‘never forget’. The elves there hold a grudge and have become distrustful of humans, perhaps rightfully so. Exiled elves often find their way here, where others still seek to find a way through the arcane immigration process to return to the land of promise.

Archie ’s
8th Avenue East & 10th Avenue East
Gadgets, novelties, jokes and ‘spy gear’ can all be found here, at Archies in Puyallup. All manner of things can be found here (AR or Real) for a pretty reasonable price, where either the friendly staff of PAN will help guide you to your sale.

For a creative mind, the novelty items can provide many different uses then necessarily advertised and for a decent tip, the helpful staff is usually more then willing to help describe some of the uses of their ‘toys’.

The Armadillo
128th Street East & Intercity 161
The Armadillo is a bar that caters for the hacker community of Puyallup and local wannabes, the current owners purchasing it when the founder past away and carrying on the tradition of teaching the new talent, from hackers to technomancers.

The Bishop’s Corpse
224th Street East & Intercity 161
Earl Saenz is the owner of this small family restaurant and for some, perhaps the biggest draw. From the soup kitchen he runs to the various charitable causes he supports, he’s become a well known, well liked and well connected fixture of Puyallup, where if given a decent donation, he’s often willing to share what he knows.

Black Junk Yards
Buckley Boulevard & 234th Avenue East
This place has never lacked for scavengers, a giant maze of stacked and crushed vehicles, parts and scrap metal. Various industrial machines are used to separate and sort metals, plastic and glass before be pressed and shipped of to recycling centers.  A good place to dump stolen vehicles and parts with no questions asked, likewise just as good a place to find new parts, vintage pieces and so forth. While the advent of RFIDs has been utilized here, tagging things as they arrive to help guide people with AROs to find what it is they’re after – for a price.

The Crime Mall
136th Street East & 122nd Avenue East
Everyone working the Seattle shadows should know about the Crime Mall.  A three-story mall on the outskirts of Puyallup was closed down after the Crash of ’29 was “reopened” as a bazaar of black market merchants selling everything from weapons and illegal chips to electronics, talismans, and contraband.

The Daisy Chain
SE 400th Street & 196th Avenue SE
For Keeblers and Posers, this elf-aimed club features elven-gothic designs enhanced with AR and celto-goth fusion music. The morbidly slow and thick with the goth atmosphere during the week, tribal and house influence pick up the weekends and a center of the drug scene in Puyallup, making available all manner of drugs, but only natural highs, no chips or digital highs here.

Howlin ’ Good Time
108th Street East & 202nd Avenue East
Put on your cowboy hat and your spurs, this old west themed bar is a good place for locals to blow off steam, boasting live music, line dancing and good old fashioned bbq food.

Uh...are these all directly grabbed from the book? If so, we cannot legally post them like this on the forum....

Er, color coding doesn't change the legality.  If the text is taken from any published Shadowrun book, it is copyrighted, and we cannot reproduce it in full here without permission.  It doesn't matter if you slightly change it or color code it.  If you're not the author and you lack the author's permission, we have to delete it.

All that needs be done is to give credit where it is due. Discussing it as such fall under fair usage.

I didn't mean to imply that all I did was add color coding. I re-wrote each section based on my interpretation of what Seattle 2072 said, ommitted specifics, extraneous details, etc.

If legality is still a concern, I fully understand if Admin delete this thread. The point of this was not to dump all of Seattle 2072 into a forum, just provide some details on extra places to RP in the PRP rooms that is not built on the grid, as discussed in a different thread.

If we'd rather avoid legality altogether, I'm more then willing to draft up some completely non-canon locations for staff to approve.

You can mention the locations, but you must paraphrase all data from them (that doesn't mean simply cut out some bits and leave others: it all has to be in original wording) and then ALSO cite the source (which wasn't originally cited). Otherwise we are liable. I'll give you guys a chance to repair the data, which is good. We just cannot use the wording from the original texts.

Okay, I talked to admin some more on this topic, and while the re-write is an improvement on what was originally posted, there are still some phrases and such that are too close to original source. Even if I edit them a little more, it still doesn't achieve the purpose of this thread - To create a bank of Decsriptions to be used as PRP locations and maybe make it on to the grid when it expands.

Staff and I talked about leaving that post up for another week, to give us time to write up descs for any of those businesses we feel particularly inspired to do a scene in.
E.g. the hacker crowd we have, might decide to take the Armadillo and desc it how they believe it should be for their archtype.

Any and all support in creating these descs are welcomed, before we take down the originating posts to err on the side of caution Smiley

I'm going to throw up some non-canon stuff to as alternative places to play - knowing they will take less of priority over canon stuff, but still something I think we need to add flavor for our RP and character development.
