So, is there a player command to add new contacts to a sheet?  It's not listed in +sheetchanges.  A few of us got a new contact tonight, and none of use know how to add it!  Please advise  Grin

There is no command because the capacity hasn't been coded. So, you're sort of SOL, at least for the time being. Let me check some stuff this week and we'll see what we can do.

The idea around contacts was to have a semi-static pool of them, that everyone dipped into. Thus, if someone got their contact in trouble it would affect everyone who had them. Plus, if you needed to get in touch with someone the contact knew, it would be more realistic if we could connect you with another player with the skills/time/gear you were looking for.


... but anyway, yeah. No contacts command :-)

The later (contact pool) was something that I really liked.

Maybe it can be set up like ICS in that it does a query for available contacts and you add them by PKey?

If we had someone to code it, yes. However, we do not. Hawk is only working with us in an advisory capacity at this point. We have no active coders on the grid other than Grubb who is doing basic maintainance and doesn't know PHP well enough to make changes to ICS. Thus, if I can find a workaround we'll do something about it. Otherwise, ...like I said, SOL.

Hmm, that's a problen in terms of moving to Beta, huh?  Oh well, I'm having fun Wink  Perhaps we could just +kill/me to add contacts, shouldn't be a problem cuz there's no other way.

Can players possibly keep additional contacts gained in their own .txt filebanks, then use something like @mail as a way to inform the playergm's? There could be viable use of the forum system to maintain new contacts as well

Not your most logical argument.

Anyway, we're going to try to adapt some existing code for the purposes of adding contacts. I'm not sure how long it will take, and we're not even sure we can get it to work for sure, but we're going to give it a shot. If we're successful, we'll post it on the New Code Implementations board.

What's illogical about that?  Lips Sealed  Is there some consequence of +kill/me like wiping out all your karma or something that I don't know about?

Not yet. In fact, +kill/me will become permanent in the near future. Meaning, you will never see that +sheet again. Ever.
