Observation: Most characters have at least one contact.  Very few characters share a specifically named contact.

Consequence: GMs rarely pay attention to contacts because there are too many to remember and they are all essentially the same.  A very cool aspect of the RP which can tighten or strain relationships between characters sremains in disuse.  The alternative is that there are one or two contacts which the GM really likes, and these contacts are used beyond their intented range and become overly itinerant for the party.  This may cause some stagnation within the party's resources since the GM is always using the same contacts, but what choice is there since at any given time a MU* will have a thousand or so?

Suggestion:
Unless their needs require something more specific, have characters pick their contacts from a general list.  You know, military weapon smuggler, shaman healer, mechanic, Barrens bartender, etc.  Maybe have two or three of each generic type, totalling 40 at a wild guess. Certain types will need to be more numberous than others, of course.  Anyway, we set 'em up as puppets, desc 'em, and maybe have a note inside if there's anything going on with them that may be relevant.
This way you can have your contact meet party's in the flesh without having to type out a desc, and there's a chance multipe people may know the same guy which can be a handy plot device if the GM needs it.  As I said, you can still have custom too. This is just a labor-saving device.  And I'm burning for something to do (someone give me a quest!)

If this idea is already in effect and I didn't see it then I apologize.  If not, there's probably a good reason that I just haven't thought of but would like to know. Otherwise I am very eager to do this, I just need one of the brass to give me a green light.

Yeah...one of the great ideas they came up with was a massive listing of contacts, and, generally speaking, you pick from the list. I know I have submitted a few to it..

Have these contacts been rolled up, or at least desced?
I'd love to make a file of descs for contacts to be implemented when the grid is ready for it.

If you want to design more contacts, from soup to nuts so to speak, you are welcome to do so. The current contacts list already has brief bgs, stats, and general descs for each one.

Sweet. That should keep me occupied for a while.
